Why Programmable Hearing Aids?
Why Duo-Microphone Hearing Aids?
Why Digital Technology?
Why consider programmable hearing aids?
Programmable hearing aids are hearing aids that are set by the hearing aid specialist on a computer. The hearing aid fitter can easily make changes in the office while you wait. Programmable hearing aids are very smart; some are designed to:
- Automatically adjust the volume for the listener.
- Compress loud sounds into a comfortable range.
- Monitor bass and treble sounds continuously to boost difficult-to-hear soft speech sounds.
Some programmable hearing aids can be ordered with 2 or more separate programs, so that with a push of a button, you can choose between different settings depending upon which listening situation you are in. For example, Program 2 can be set to give better speech understanding in noisy situations.

Why consider duo-microphone (two microphones) hearing aids?
Each microphone has a specific job. The classic type, or omnidirectional microphone, picks up all sound waves and gives a better overall listening experience, especially for speech in a quiet situation and for music. The directional microphone is activated when listening in background noise. It focuses on sound waves in front of the listener and reduces sound from behind the listener. This helps the speech signal to stand out in noise.

Why consider digital technology?
Digital aids are able to process speech more intelligently by converting sound to computerized signals. This means little or no distortion to the listener. Digital aids can better control feedback problems. They can self-adjust to different volumes of sounds. They are designed to amplify soft speech consonants differently from loud vowel sounds so that listening to speech is overall easier.
